A beautiful establishment at the foot of the abbey steps as the name suggests. I expected this to be a tourist trap due to it's great location, but it was anything but. The tearoom is cosy and welcoming with the added touch of vinyl playing adding to the ambience. The staff are very friendly and attentive, with great food and excellent coffee done properly. Added to that, the price was very good too. I couldn't recommend this place enough as it is a gem within Whitby. Thanks for providing a great setting and service.- Trip type

Lovely food and beautiful China cups and saucers for our tea. Pleasant background music played on a small record player. Friendly and caring staff. Highly recommended.

Popped in for some light refreshments, the hot chocolate was divine. My partner had tea, and I love the little guitar shaped spoons and lovely mugs, the smallest touches make a big difference. The staff and atmosphere are lovely. Thank you for great service.

Fabulous, large, warm, homemade scone with butter, cream & jam. Lovely staff and great location at the bottom of the Abbey Steps. Good music, played on vinyl LPs. What more could you want?

Stopped in this tea room after a long walk along Cleveland way and I was not disappointed. The staff were lovely and the scone was honestly the best scone I have ever had. All of their cakes are homemade. My mum had the Victoria sponge and said it was also the best she’s ever had. Can 100% recommend.

Had an absolutely fantastic lunch here, with a prawn and lemon mayo doorstop of a sandwich, and a scone with jam and cream to follow. Loved that the cups of tea came in an amazing vintage teapot with a proper China cup and saucer and the brews tasted great. The staff were brilliant, and the spot was totally unique, sitting outside to watch people come up or down the iconic 199 steps. Overall, we had a lovely visit. Highly recommended!- Food

"the best scone I have ever had, on another level" to quote my friend. The coffee was excellent catering for all tastes with various milk options. Cakes were very nice but sadly for two of the party, not vegan friendly. Hosts were very friendly and the music was spot on. Surprisingly quiet for such good coffee ☕

We stopped of for a drink and light bite. The cheese scone, cheese and chutney was lovely. The price seemed very very reasonable indeed. The staff are very attentive and helpful. The youngster helping with the serving was a credit to the business, very polite and helpful.
A lovely atmosphere. A radio playing quietly in the background added a nice balance to the atmosphere. The food arrived in a timely manner, the drinks almost immediately, thanks to the young person.A cunningly placed cafe at the foot of the Abbey steps, beckoning to the would-be mountaineer. The flat white was delicious. The coffee to milk ratio was perfect, not a pretend latte. Textured milk to give the velvet micro-foam with no signs of layering. Maximum taste in a small package.
The cafe itself was quirky and welcoming. We loved the time capsule record decorations adorning the walls, and the staff were super friendly. But then it's Yorkshire, so everyone is :-)
Highly recommended.- Service
